THE PRESSING
UK FirstWow. Okay, so this is a first UK Track pressing with the infamous Naked Ladies gatefold cover.
That’s about all most people will need to know about it, but for those into the specifics:
- Hendrix on the right when gate is opened
- White (and only white) printing on the inside
- On disc 2, side C, the machine-stamped run-out has been scratched out and the correct info has been added by hand
- All labels feature the album title in the exact same physical location (none higher than the others).
So, yeah, a first first.
THIS COPY
Sounds MUCH better than it looksI’ll be flat out honest: the LPs look like they’ve been skated on. BUT… I vacuum-cleaned them multiple times and all sides play quite well. There is definitely some crackle and a few pops, but most of that is only audible on the quiet parts, and this is not a very quiet album on the whole.
Even looking skate-upon, cranked, you really do believe he could chop down a mountain with the side of his hand.
I sold this EXACT copy at the store on Dundas a few years ago so if you saw that one, you’ve seen this one. I just bought it back from the seller yesterday.
I’ve only had one other copy of this record in my life (when in the basement at Black Market). It also looked like hell. Unfortunately it also sounded like it.
Though one could hope for a better looking copy, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better sounding one at this price.
Cover is in excellent shape. Some obvious wear but intact all around.
