Sonny Rollins / Vol. 2 / 1957 Deep Groove Mono

Sonny Rollins / Vol. 2 / 1957 Deep Groove Mono

Very rare 1957 mono release on Blue Note. 47 West 63rd labels. 9M. Plastylite "ear". RVG stamped. Rear cover missing INC. of later releases. Laminated cover.

For all but the pickiest collector, this is an "original". Ear’d on both sides. 9M only on one. RVG stamped (there are reports of hand-written pressings). The label for one side also has a small sticker applied by a previous owner.

The vinyl has some surface marks but they're inaudible due to the deep grooves. Laminated cover is intact and a VG+ but for slight fray in bottom left corner. Rear cover has some scotch tape along the bottom right. However, all seams (and blank spine) are solid. I assume a previous owner taped something to the back cover which has since been removed. (Over the years, I've seen lots of jazz records with album reviews taped to the covers.) In other words, tape was not added for structural reasons.

Unlikely you'll see another copy as sweet as this one. 2 or 3 very faint ticks across entire thing. Wonderful.
